Many people consider themselves “techies” because they own many of the latest tech gadgets, such as smartphones and tablets. What separates a true techie from pretenders is whether you use technology primarily as tools or toys. A tool makes your life more productive, while a mere toy is something you enjoy doing. It is not enough to own the gadget; you should use the gadget to simplify your life.

We’re living in a multi-device world

It’s not just “mobile” anymore; think everything from smartphone to tablet to an 80” widescreen Internet TV. When it comes to web usage, bring-your-own-device (BYOD) is the order of the day. Web designers must now consider the context within which our websites are being “consumed”, as I describe in “Multi-device is the new mobile”.
